About
This is a recipe originally authored by a woman named Carol DeAdder and received by my mother. I never met Carol, but this is what my mother had to say:
“Carol was a woman that worked with me in the Provo Temple Office. She would bring cookies in sometimes and they were heavenly. I asked for her recipe and that is what I wrote down.”
On 2023-12-24, I took this image of the index card the recipe was written upon:

Carol’s chocolate chip cookie recipe (as received by my mother)
The unmodified recipe calls for “2 cubes” (16 Tbsp) unsalted butter and ½ tsp salt. That happens to be roughly the amount of salt present in an equivalent amount of salted butter. With this in mind, I have modified the recipe to use salted butter, which most households are more likely to have on-hand. ↩︎
An additional ¼ tsp salt has been added to the recipe according to my personal taste, but this is not strictly necessary and can be omitted. ↩︎
The original recipe calls for 8–10 minutes. In my experience, this is not enough time. That said, I have only tried this recipe with one oven, which could be defective. ↩︎
